Editorial Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Money Basics Hub publishes beginner-friendly personal finance education. This Editorial Policy explains how we select topics, research articles, use sources, handle commercial relationships, and correct mistakes.

Our Editorial Purpose

Our goal is to make budgeting, saving, investing, financial habits, and legitimate income-building concepts easier to understand. Content should help readers ask better questions and compare options; it should not pressure readers into a product or present general information as personalized advice.

Research and Sources

For financial rules, taxes, contribution limits, consumer protections, and investment concepts, we prioritize primary and authoritative sources such as government agencies, regulators, official documentation, and current product disclosures. Examples include the IRS, SEC and Investor.gov, CFPB, FTC, FINRA, FDIC, NCUA, and official provider terms.

When an article includes a calculation or hypothetical example, we state the assumptions and avoid presenting the result as guaranteed. Product prices, rates, fees, eligibility rules, and features are checked against current sources when possible and dated when they may change.

Writing and Review

  • Articles should answer the reader’s main question early and use plain English.
  • Material financial claims should be supported by an appropriate source.
  • Risks, fees, limitations, and important eligibility conditions should not be hidden.
  • Headlines should accurately describe the content and avoid guaranteed outcomes.
  • Examples must be clearly separated from personalized recommendations.
  • Internal links should lead to relevant, working pages.

Use of AI-Assisted Tools

We may use software and AI-assisted tools for research organization, outlines, editing, formatting, or quality checks. These tools do not replace editorial responsibility. Content must be reviewed for factual accuracy, clarity, sources, outdated claims, and reader usefulness before publication. We do not intentionally publish unreviewed automated output as financial guidance.

Independence and Affiliate Relationships

Advertising or affiliate compensation may support the website, but it should not determine factual conclusions. Commercial links should be disclosed, and sponsored content—if published—should be identified clearly. Inclusion of a product is not a guarantee that it is suitable for every reader.

Updates and Corrections

Personal finance information changes. We review important pages when laws, limits, products, or source guidance change and may update titles, examples, links, and explanations. A visible “last updated” date may be used when it helps readers judge freshness.

If we discover a material error, we aim to correct it promptly. Minor spelling, formatting, and clarity edits may be made without a correction note. Significant corrections that change the meaning of an article may be disclosed within the page.

Reader Feedback

Readers can report a factual error, outdated link, unclear disclosure, or potential conflict through our Contact page. Please include the page URL and the statement that should be reviewed.

Educational Scope

Our content is general education, not individualized financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice. Readers should consult an appropriately qualified professional for advice based on their circumstances.
